Over the years I've had some issues with my brother. We haven't fallen out, we haven't argued but I've felt very much in his shadow for many years. He has excelled academically and in sport and has done very well in his career. His choice of career - insurance actuary - is of no interest but it has allowed him to pursue a great lifestyle. Apart from all the holidays he has attended a great number of high profile sporting events such as Wimbledon, the Grand National, Ashes Test matches, Melbourne Cup and the FIFA World Cup final in Germany. What's more he was Olympics in 1984 too and he has just returned from Beijing and Hong Kong where he watched a great many of the recent Olympic events. Of that level of competition I can point only to Euro96 and he bought my ticket for that! I have competed in the London Marathon so hasn't had it all his own way. The thing is I don't resent what he has achieved but I am little envious because these are all things I'd love to do. He's six years older but we have had the same opportunities. Back to the Olympics... My Olympic blog - of which just 4 posts are on this site - gave me an idea of turning it into a book. I felt that if I coupled my own views on events with my brother's experiences and photographs of being there, could be a great chance for us to work on a level on a project. I've emailed him to see what his thoughts are - I'll keep you posted.
