I've mentioned this before but working for someone else is not necessarily a great position to be in even if it offers stability and a regular income. This morning I got up at a set time to make sure I was ready to catch a certain bus so I was in the office at a time dictated by the company I work for. While on the bus I was reading my book The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell I got to a particularly interesting section but had to stop because it was my stop to get off. In an ideal world I could have gone to a coffee shop and continued reading but no, I have a job to do: one of little interest, in a industry I don't really care for doing activities for the benefit of someone else. We know all this but being part of the rat race seems so much worse in this situation. Something so simple as reading a book has to stop because you have agreed to be an employee. Giving myself 10 minutes for such a simple activity is denied because of my working contract. When this happened to me 18 months ago I did something about it before slipping back into bad habits. I've got to reclaim my time and use it the way I want.
