Inspired by a thread on another forum I thought I'd ask the same here to see if we can spark some debate.
Personal development for me is a lot of things but ultimately it means steady improvement, making progressing in whatever form that takes. I don't think it necessarily means trying to be the best you can be at every moment of the day because keeping to that standard is a real challenge. The problem with massive action is being consistent.
If we can make a 1% improvement in whatever area we focus on that can snowball to huge steps forward.
Time to yourself is very important because it is a time for reflection. This is one of the reasons why I'm quite protective of my lunch hours and bus journeys however mad that sounds. I'm happy to spend time with other people then but I prefer to spend them alone because it is quality thinking time which I can channel as I wish.
My trips to and from work last about 20-25 minutes each which means I have roughly a guaranteed 45 minutes to read books on whatever interests me at a given time. At the moment I'm reading The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell which is a fascinating insight how insignificant events can cause epidemics in any aspect of life.
What does Personal Development mean to you?
